NorthWake Media Launches, Bringing Together Water Ways TV, PowerBoat TV and Expanding Creator Network
Toronto, ON –Monday, August 18, 2025 – NorthWake Media Group (NWMG), an independent media company created to lead the next era of boater-first content, has announced its official launch with the acquisition of Water Ways TV from Bullitage Media and the planned relaunch and digital transformation of PowerBoat TV, which went off the air as of 2022.
NWMG will operate both flagship brands as distinct multi-platform verticals:
· Water Ways TV will continue to focus on destinations, lifestyle, and local maritime stories.
· PowerBoat TV will focus on new products, current pre-owned inventory, parts, and projects.
The company’s in-house creator network, NorthWake Collective (NWC), soft-launched in July 2025 and is onboarding content creators, influencers, and regional experts to produce authentic, audience-driven marine media.
“Steven Bull was the only choice to carry the PowerBoat TV name forward,” said Katherine Minton, outgoing owner of Lifestyle Integrated Inc., which is selling PowerBoat TV to Bull. “He understands its history, the audience, and has the vision to reimagine it for the next chapter in an evolving digital market, one that puts boaters first and challenges the industry to think bigger.”
Bull’s track record with Water Ways TV was a key factor in the expansion strategy.
“Water Ways’ success – including landing Neil deGrasse Tyson as a guest in Season 2 – spurred the creation of an Ontario-focused series, Water Ways: Ontario in 2024. The provincially focussed content struck a chord with viewers and attracted the attention of Queen’s Park with Premier Doug Ford joining as a guest on the first episode,” said Steven J. Bull, Founder of NWMG, who added more regional shows are planned with British Columbia launching in 2026.
“Adding PowerBoat TV gives us a complementary but separate vertical—one that focuses on products, parts, and projects—while Water Ways TV remains centered on destinations, lifestyle, and local maritime stories,” Bull said.
Beyond programming, NWMG will emphasize responsiveness and collaboration. “We’re moving to real-time, boater-first coverage—with weekly shows, daily digital pieces, and features shaped by viewer requests – sometimes with same-day turnaround. With our creator network across the country, we’re uniquely positioned to deliver the how-to, product, and destination content boaters ask for—fast. We partner with industry leaders, but we work for boaters. If you share our goal of getting more people on the water—and keeping them there—we’d love to work with you. Together, we can grow Canada’s boating community.”
The combined reach of Water Ways, PowerBoat TV, and NorthWake Collective positions NWMG as a multi-platform leader in marine content, commerce, and community, leveraging broadcast, streaming, and social media to connect with audiences across Canada and beyond.
Bull will serve as CEO and Chief Creative Officer, continuing in the immediate term as primary host of the broadcast properties while a team of experts is onboarded to lead operations, sales, and technical functions. Recurring experts – including service technicians, instructors, and fishing pros – will be selected through a casting call this fall, beginning within the NorthWake Collective talent pool. NWMG’s executive leadership team, currently being onboarded, will be announced shortly.
